Ronald Krafka

Ronald Jerome Krafka was born on November 11, 1964, in Alexandria, MN to Stanley and Lael (Nordin) Krafka.  Ron was a great high school athlete and loved his many roles in theater and acting at Jefferson High School where he graduated in 1983.  He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army and learned how to speak Russian, French, German and Spanish; and became fluent in Russian and German.   During the Cold War, Ron was a Russian Linguist serving at the Berlin Wall as it fell.  After Ron’s honorable discharge, he shared his military knowledge with high school students, helping recruit for the Army.

Ron attended South Dakota State University for Broadcast Journalism/Theater.  He returned back to Alexandria and worked at various food and beverage establishments including: The Wharf, Old Broadway, and the Eagles.  Ron later returned back to college and earned a degree in Sales and Marketing from Alexandria Technical College.

Ron loved being with people and socializing, golfing any chance he got, and the Minnesota Vikings.  He had a passion for the family cabin on Eagle Lake by Battle Lake and loved the outdoors and the times at the hunting cabin with his Dad up by Cook, MN.

Ron died peacefully on Monday, September 20, 2021, at his home following a battle with cancer in Alexandria at the age of 56.  He is survived by his significant other, Angela Salto of Alexandria; father, Stanley Krafka of Champlin; mother, Lael Krafka of St. Petersburg, FL; sister, Jodi (Paul) Sullivan of St. Petersburg, FL; nieces, Rylee and McKenzee Sullivan; nephew, Stryker Sullivan; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.  Ron is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; and stepmother, Catherine “Kay” Krafka.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 11am-7pm on Sunday, October 3, 2021, at the Eagles in Alexandria.  Military Honors will be held at 11 AM at the Eagles provided by the Alexandria Veterans Memorial Unit and the Minnesota National Honor Guard.
