Roger Cook

February 12, 1930 — November 3, 2017

Roger William Cook was born February 12, 1930 in Moody County, SD, the son of Casper and Lila (Eastman) Cook.  He attended Blinsmon Country School in Moody County, SD and graduated from Trent High School in Trent, SD.

Roger served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  Roger dedicated his life’s work to the field of Education for 38 years.  Over the course of his career, he served in many roles, from one room School Teacher to Superintendent of Schools.

Roger was married to Dorothy Loraine Anderson from Sioux Falls, SD. Roger and Dorothy had four children. Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, and one son, Steve Cook.  Roger is survived by two sons, Bruce Cook of Tampa, FL, Dan Cook of Alexandria, MN, one daughter, Cheryl Glad of Albertville, MN, and three grandchildren, Michael Wesely, Amy Cook and Sara Cook.

On Friday, November 3, 2017 Roger died peacefully with family by his side at the age of eighty-seven years. He will be remembered for his zest for life. He loved to play cards, especially Pinochle, visit and laugh with his friends and family, and continue to learn and explore the world around him.  Roger was a member of the Minnesota Archeological Society, the Masons and the Golden K.

Funeral services will be on November 25th, 2017 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Visitation will be from 12 Noon to 1 pm.  The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm.  Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Alexandria.
