Rick Jones

September 26, 1948 — September 30, 2020

Glenwood, MN

Ricki “Rick” Duane Jones was born on September 26, 1948, in Lorimor, Iowa to Keith “Casey” and Myrtis “Mandy” (Edwards) Jones.  He spent his school years in Bondurant, IA and later graduated high school from Johnston, IA. He continued his education and earned his business degree.

Rick married Darla Jones in 1985.  He worked a variety of jobs as a quality control manager and doing consultation work.  In 1994, the couple moved to Alexandria, MN where Rick spent 20 plus years with Alex Industries gaining knowledge about his products, finetuning his sales pitch and developing patents.

Rick had a passion for fishing whether it was teaching, competing, or just throwing a leisurely hook into the lake. He was also a part of the School Of Fish program, which teaches young kids how to fish. Rick held a strong belief in our mighty Lord which led him to New Life Christian Church, where he and Darla are members, and his ministry at Life Right Outreach. His belief also inspired him to create his newspaper, Our Town-God’s Town.

Rick died on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at Alomere Health in Alexandria at the age of 72.  He is survived by his wife: Darla Jones of Glenwood; four children: Rebecca (Todd) Rodgers of Alexandria, Tracey Sargeant of Glenwood, Becky (Jeff) Schaefer of Mandan, ND, and Casey Jones of Alexandria; nine grandchildren; his sister: Sherry Ellis of Alexandria; his brother: Ron (Phylis) Jones of Roscoe, IL; lots of family and countless friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Danny and Kelley Jones.
