Patty Plowman

Patty Jean Plowman was born on September 6, 1941, in Willmar, Minnesota to Art and Mildred (Wittman) Rust.  She graduated high school in Minnesota.

On February 27, 1959, Patty was united in marriage to her best friend and lifelong partner, Robert Plowman.  They were blessed with 3 sons, Dana, Dan and Jeff.  Patty loved her family and dedicated her life to raising her boys and supporting (or as her children would say “keeping in line”) her husband throughout their many adventures.

Along with various other professions throughout her life, after Robert and Patty moved to Alexandria, Patty worked alongside her husband in the lab of their own dental technician business.  They later moved to Perham to continue this business and she, by example, taught her children strength, dedication and work ethic while helping maintain the family farm. The couple retired together in 1998.

Robert and Patty then started traveling the country, mainly the west coast, in a 5th wheel camper.  They made their home in Burlington, WA for the last 10 years.  Patty was a cheerful, strong, supportive, and loving woman with contagious laughter that would light up a room. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, farming, hunting and volunteering at various state parks throughout the country.  Until the very end of Roberts life, she supported, loved and cared for him, providing the peace and comfort he needed.  After her husband’s death, she remained positive and loving to her children, and in her gentle way, helped ease their hearts and prepare them for her own transition. Her grace and kindness never faltered as she used her energy to teach peace, kindness, love and grace to everyone around her.

Patty passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Nelson Gables in Alexandria, Minnesota at the age of 78.  She is survived by her sons, Dana (Lisa) Plowman of Farwell, Dan (Michele) Plowman of Carlos, and Jeff (Brigett) Plowman of Houston, TX; 7 grandchildren, Shawn (Laura), Jerilynn (Corey Davis), Jason, Robert, David, Telima and Katrina; 3 great-grandchildren, Victor, Isabelle, and Eliza; sisters, Sheri Rietveld of Washington and Linda Franzen of Arkansas ; and many nieces and nephews.  Patty is preceded in death by her husband Robert; Parents Art and Mildred Rust; and brother, Henry.

A Remembrance Gathering for Patty and her late husband, Robert Plowman, will be held from 1 to 4 PM, Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Dana Plowman’s home,  9125 Rachel Shores SW, Farwell, MN.
