Martha Lorsung

Martha Yvonne Lorsung, the daughter of Edward and Edna (Miller) Town, was born on August 18, 1937, in International Falls, MN.  She graduated from Falls Senior High school in 1955 and continued her education at a business school in Minneapolis.  Martha moved back to International Falls where she raised her two daughters, Heidi and Wendy.  She ran a daycare out of her home for a few years before getting a job as a cook at the hospital in International Falls, MN.

Martha married Ronald Lorsung on October 21, 1977, in International Falls, MN and then moved to Alexandria.  Martha worked as a cook at Knute Nelson for many years.  She was member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella and the Red Hat Society.  Martha loved to shop, read books, and spend time with her daughters and grandchildren.

Martha Y. Lorsung died on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at her home in Arabella Manor in Alexandria at the age of 84 years old.  She is survived by her daughters, Heidi (Kevin) Anderson of Nelson and Wendy Haner of Alexandria; grandchildren, Jacob (Katie) Rodel of Duluth, Gretchen (Garret) Rasmusen of Carlos, and Mariah Anderson of Ely; great grandchildren, Mackenzie Cohen, Brayden Schlangen, Elijah Rasmusen, Madison Rasmusen, and Liam Rasmusen; sisters, Joyce Converse of Denver, CO and Ramona Rapaway of St. Cloud.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ronald Lorsung, great grandson, Phynix Rodel, two brothers and three sisters.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at 11AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria.

A visitation will take place one hour prior to the mass at the church on Saturday.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.
