Marlys Krueger

Marlys Elaine (Anderson) Krueger was born August 8, 1933, in Alexandria, MN to Harold and Mildred (Svedin) Anderson. She graduated from Central High School in 1952.

Marlys was united in marriage to Myron Krueger on September 1, 1956, at First Baptist Church in Alexandria. The couple lived in Alexandria for a few years before moving out to the Krueger family farm. Marlys worked for Dr. Franklin Steen, DDS, and received on the job training to work as a dental assistant. She loved working there, meeting and getting to know the patients.  Myron and Marlys were blessed with two children, Lynn and David.

Marlys loved watching the birds and the bird sanctuary outside of her big picture window. She loved baking, cooking and enjoyed making cookies for Lynn and David, especially when they had friends over. Marlys was like a mom to many of her children’s friends. She loved kids, which made her want to be involved with Sunday School at church and even becoming the Sunday School Superintendent. She will be remembered as a dear friend to many. Her positive attitude and quick wit always made her a joy to be around.

Marlys died just where she wanted to be on Thursday, November 19, 2020, at her home at the age of 87, under the care of Hospice of Douglas County. She is survived by her loving husband, Myron of Alexandria; daughter, Lynn (Don) Johnson of Alexandria; son, David (Susan Gerber) Krueger of Philadelphia; her long awaited grandchildren, Jackson and Samuel Krueger; brother, Norman (Bonnie) Anderson of Post Falls, ID; and Bob (Lorraine) Anderson of Alexandria; sisters-in-law, Marlyce Anderson of Alexandria and Janet (Gary) Rapp of St. Louis Park; and many nieces and nephews. Marlys is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Mildred; brother, Don Anderson; and sister-in-law, Harriet Halstead.

A heartfelt thank you from Marlys, asking to express her deepest gratitude for all the love and support helping her over all these years. She said she will be forever grateful.
