Lyle Wiebe

Lyle Dean Wiebe was born March 24, 1950, in Perham, MN, the son of Edwin and Hilda (Bartels) Wiebe. He grew up in Dent, MN and attended school at Pelican Rapids and Detroit Lakes.

Following Lyle’s graduation from high school, he joined the United States Air Force. He served in several different locations including the Philippines, North Carolina, Korea, England, Minot, ND and Grand Forks, ND.  In 1978, Lyle was united in marriage to Mary Hohenstein in Dent.  The couple remained together as Lyle served at different air force bases. They were blessed with four children.

While serving at Grand Forks Air Force Base in 1994, Lyle retired as a Master Sergeant after twenty-six years of service. Lyle and Mary moved to Brandon, MN and he began working at Douglas Machines. Lyle retired from Douglas Machines in 2011.

Lyle spent his time doing yardwork and golfing with his friends. He liked visiting Menards or going for a drive. Lyle was a good husband, father and grandfather. He served as a Cub Scout leader and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

On Sunday, January 5, 2020, Lyle died peacefully at his home, at the age of sixty-nine years. He was preceded in death by his parents. Lyle is survived by his wife, Mary Wiebe of Brandon; two sons, Chris Wiebe and fiancée, Rachel Monkman, of Fargo, ND and Patrick Wiebe of Brooten, MN; two daughters, Jennifer Ondracek and husband, Derek, of Greeley, CO and Maria Wiebe of Greeley, CO; grandchildren, Faith Wiebe, Leia Wiebe, Reuben Ondracek, Edwin Ondracek and Arianna Monkman; two brothers, Stan Wiebe and wife, JaNell Jacobson, of Plymouth, MN and Harry Wiebe and wife, Bernice, of Denver, CO; two sisters, Virginia Duel and husband, Don, of St. Cloud, MN and Sylvia Wiebe of St. Louis Park, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1 PM, Friday, January 10, 2020 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria, MN. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1 PM Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Disabled American Veterans. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory
