Louann Rodenborg

April 6, 1957 — May 7, 2020

Ida Township

Louann was born April 6, 1957, to Myron and Joanne Lenning in Jamestown, ND. She passed on from this world, surrounded by family and friends, on May 7, 2020. In the weeks that preceded her passing, she was attended by many family and friends who each lavished care upon her and Mary. She made her first best friend in 1966 when sister, Melanie, was born. Following high school, Louann met and married second best friend, David Rodenborg. In September 1979, Louann and David welcomed favorite oldest daughter, Heather; and then in September 1983, they welcomed favorite youngest daughter, Haley. While marriage ultimately didn’t work for Louann and David, they remained best friends after divorce in 1998. Later that year, Louann made a new best friend in the woman who would become her partner in love and life, Mary Kugler. Louann’s fondest memories were always made with family. In August 2012, Louann welcomed son-in-law Dustin Skeide to the family when he wed Haley; and in June 2014, Louann welcomed Amanda, who wed Heather. For Louann, family is and will always be most important. While she may have many favorites, it’s her grandchildren who mean most to her. Through Mary, she gained Taylor and Chase Kugler (children of Chad and Laura Kugler). Haley and Dustin then added Hanna. And though unable to meet earthside, Louann celebrated sonograms and heard the heartbeat of her newest granddaughter, Ridley, soon to be welcomed by Amanda and Heather this coming July. Louann was preceded in death by mother, Joanne, best friend David, and grandparents. She is survived by her partner Mary Kugler, father Myron (Sharon) Lenning, and daughters Heather (Amanda) Rodenborg and Haley (Dustin) Skeide; step-son Chad (Laura) Kugler, sister Melanie (Scott) Dethlefsen, nephews Jordon and Colin Dethlefsen, and grandchildren Taylor, Chase, Hanna, and Ridley. If you asked Louann, she would say “The bottomline is, I loved as much as I could and am proud of all my family.” Her fondest piece of heaven on earth was her pontoon boat. Ask any family member or friend what that means, and you will be guaranteed a smile. In true Louann-style, she didn’t want a funeral, but a potluck at the lake to celebrate her wonderful life. Her potluck celebration will be held at a later time when we can all gather safely. The family would like to thank Douglas County Hospice for their care for Louann during her final days. Cards of condolence can be mailed to Mary Kugler at 9390 Memory Lane NW, Alexandria MN 56308.
