LaVonne Anderson

June 24, 1929 — December 18, 2020

LaVonne (Vonnie) was born June 24, 1929 to Oscar and Cecilia Goltz in Darfur, MN. She attended Darfur Elementary and Comfrey High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Roger Anderson, on November 9, 1946. Vonnie and Roger farmed 23 years in Comfrey. In 1969 until her retirement, Vonnie worked at the Comfrey School as a teacher’s aide. Vonnie loved children and always said her years working at the school were a gift from God. In 1998 their home in Comfrey was destroyed by a tornado. They moved to Alexandria to be closer to their son and daughter-in-law.

Vonnie’s love of serving others was evident in her many volunteering activities in both Comfrey and Alexandria. Roger and Vonnie were known for their gift of hospitality. Their home (wherever the location) was always open to friends and family and anyone wanting good conversation and way too much to eat. Vonnie loved to cook and will be remembered for amazing meals and desserts.

Vonnie’s greatest passions were her relationships with her Lord and her family. She was a faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church in Comfrey, Calvary Lutheran and Living Word Lutheran churches in Alexandria. She would most want to be remembered as a follower of Jesus and one with an unwavering belief in the Bible.

Vonnie is survived by her husband Roger; children Darla Long, Steven (Lynnae), Brad (Jan), Rachelle (Ken Waldron); 10 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.

May you be blessed by one of her favorite verses: 2 Timothy 4:7,8

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.

A private service for immediate family only will be held December 28, 2020.  A live stream and recording of the service will be available at  www.andersonfuneral.net/
