Karen Elizabeth Johnson was born on August 13, 1939, to Ruth (Fowlds) Johnson and Clifford Conrad Johnson in Alexandria, Minnesota. She was raised in Alexandria and graduated from Alexandria High School in 1957.
Karen attended Macalester College in St. Paul and the dental hygienist program at the University of Minnesota. After graduating in 1962, she began her 40-year career as a dental hygienist with Dr. Nels Neslund in Robbinsdale, later working for the Heritage Dental Center in New Hope for Dr. Curtis Hattstrom where she retired in 2002. During her career Karen made many lifelong clients and friends with her outgoing nature.
Karen was a longtime member of Elim Lutheran Church in Robbinsdale where she assisted with church social events and attended bible study.
Karen's social activities included being a class agent for her '57 high school class reunions in Alexandria, helping to organize reunions every 5 years. She was also a faithful member of her red hat group attending meetings, lunches, and social events.
Karen loved everything Norwegian, including lutefisk and lefse.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jane Johnson Huhn (Robert); and brother, Robert Clifford Johnson (Sigrid). She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Leigh Huhn Melville, Ross Huhn, Jay Huhn, Peter Johnson, and Andrew Johnson; along with numerous godchildren and other loving relatives.
A private inurnment was held at Kinkead Cemtery in Alexandria.
