John Pennie

John Leslie Pennie was born November 7, 1936 to Donald “Leven” Pennie and Irene Trisko in Alexandria. He was the oldest of seven. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1955. He served in the Army for four years. In 1960, he married Janet Berge and the couple had two children. The couple moved around and settled in Brandon. John and Janet started J & J furniture stripping and refinishing in 1974. He stripped furniture for almost 40 years. John loved fishing and was an active member of the Brandon Sportsman’s Club and the Brandon Lions Club.

John is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Daniel and James; sisters, Ruth Nelson and Mary Wogan.

He is survived by his children, Donald (Dawn) Pennie and Diane Koep; granddaughters, Amber Buse and Theresa Koep; grandson, Brendan Koep; two step-grandsons, Michael (Megan) Diederich and Ryan Diederich; seven great-grandchildren: Ethan, Evan, Avery, Natalia, Madeline, Benjamin, and Isaac; sister, Eleanor Kasper and brother, William (Nancy) Pennie.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019, 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home.  Burial will be at Kinkead Cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday. Military honors will be by American Legion Post #87, VFW Post #936, VVA Post #235, Marine Corps League 1409, Minnesota National Honor Guard.
