Joan Lindquist

Joan Rose Lindquist was born on November 1, 1928, in Minneapolis, MN to Henry and Margaret (Keough) O’Hotto.  At a very young age she moved to St. Cloud, MN where she spent most of her youth. While in high school her family moved to Alexandria, MN.

Joan was united in marriage to Vernon M. Lindquist on February 26, 1949, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria, MN. The couple resided in Alexandria where they owned and operated the John Deere Dealership where she was the office manager.

Jo was very involved in many community activities which included St. Mary’s Church, Christian Mothers, Alexandria Planning Commission, American Cancer Society, Theatre L’ Homme Dieu League, charter member of the Belles Lettres Study Club and one of the founding members of the Alexandria Figure Skating Club.

Her interests included crossword puzzles, watching Minnesota Twins games, baking pies and flower gardening.  She was known as the Flower Lady for growing, arranging, and donating her flower arrangements to St. Mary’s and many other places over the years.

Joan Rose Lindquist, of Alexandria, Minnesota, died Saturday, October 16, 2021, in Grand Arbor at the age of 92 years old.  Jo is survived by her children: Mark (Kathy) Lindquist of Muskegon, MI; Paul (Paula Wentworth) Lindquist of Alexandria, MN; William (Kris) Lindquist of Rochester, MN; Barbara Moreno of Newport Coast, CA. Four grandchildren: Kari Lindquist of Chapel Hill, NC; Timothy Lindquist and Emily Lindquist of Rochester, MN, and Tyler Moreno of Newport Coast, CA. One sister, Mary Peters of Glenwood, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vern, daughter-in-law Carolyn Lindquist and two sisters Jean Poganski and Elizabeth Gillen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 22, 2021, at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Matthew Kuhn officiating.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be livestreamed and recorded on Joan’s obituary page on the Anderson Funeral Home website.

A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM with a Christian Mother Rosary beginning at 5 PM on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.   A visitation will continue for one hour prior to the mass on Friday at the church.

Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Mausoleum.

Jo would be honored to have memorials directed to The Church of St. Mary or Douglas County Library.
