Harvey Bolstad Sr.

Harvey James Bolstad, Sr., the son of Melvin and Josephine (Forthun) Bolstad was born at home on the farm on May 24, 1939 in Moe Township. He along with his sister Mavis (Bolstad) Gulbrandson attended Country School through 8th grade and then continued to be at home helping his parents on the family farm, learning and growing his passion for farming, farm life, and being outdoors.

Harvey was united in marriage to Linda Proell on August 16, 1969 and the couple made their home in Alexandria, MN. To this marriage they were blessed with 6 children. In his life he enjoyed working hard, especially the 17 years at Wedums Supply, 7 years at Jenni-O, 7 years at SunOpta, and numerous odd jobs. He stayed busy farming, caring for animals, and helping anyone in need. There was never a dull day in his life.

Harvey enjoyed family gatherings, being with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed a good laugh over a cup of coffee. He always had a good story to tell and was always known for driving his tractor around town.

On Monday October 7th, 2019 Harvey passed away peacefully at the age of 80 years old at Knute Nelson surrounded by his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin & Josie; sister, Mavis; brother-in-laws,  Bruce, Ron, and Dave, and sister-in-laws, Patty, Sandy, and Kim.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Linda; children, Scott (Donna), Sheila (Wes), Theresa (Danny), Harvey Jr. (Tracy), Ryan (Elizabeth), Jason (Jessica); grandchildren, Jacob, Mariah, Tyler, Elizabeth, Gabriel, Caleb, Zach, Ethan, Allison, Asher, Leland, Ember, and Ervyn; extended grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Norman Gulbrandson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 18th, 2019 from 4-7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria and continue on Saturday, October 19th, 2019 at 1 PM at the funeral home, followed by the memorial service at 2 PM.
