As a teen, she worked as a nanny in Alexandria and then as a waitress.  She moved to Minneapolis in her early 20’s where she was employed at Honeywell for a couple years.  Evelyn then returned to the Garfield MN area where she would eventually make her home for several years.

On October 26, 1947 she was united in marriage to Earl Gease at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Garfield.  This marriage was blessed with 4 children; Glenda, Wayne, Gail and Donna.  They resided in Garfield until 1968, when they moved to Alexandria.  That same year Evelyn started working at Bethany Nursing Home in Alexandria in the housekeeping dept.  She retired around 1986.

For many years Evelyn planted large vegetable gardens, which the family ate from year-round as she also enjoyed canning.  Her favorite hobby was sewing, which she did most of her life, including making masks during the pandemic at the age of 100.

In Garfield, Evelyn was a member of the St. John’s Church Ladies Aid and the Fire Department Auxiliary.  She also enjoyed a monthly sewing club with the ladies.

In Alexandria, she participated in the Zion Church Evening Guild and was active in the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries.

Evelyn died on September 20, 2021 at Bethany on the Lake in Alexandria, MN at the age of 101.  She was preceded in death by her husband Earl; parents Walter and Anna; sister Delores Betterman.
