Eleanor Lee Schulz was born July 22, 1926 in Woodworth, ND, the daughter of Albert and Wanda (Goter) Schulz. She was raised in Woodworth where she attended school. Following her graduation Eleanor moved to St. Paul, MN. She worked as a waitress and later as a cashier at a grocery store.
While working in St. Paul Eleanor met Ronald Langhoff. On July 24, 1955, Eleanor and Ronald were united in marriage at Carrington, ND. The couple made their home primarily in St. Paul. They were blessed with two sons and sixty-six years of marriage. They operated several different ventures. They connected with the Alexandria and Glenwood, MN area when they bought the Shady Rest Resort on Lake Amelia near Villard, MN. They have owned the resort for forty-five years. In 2013Eleanor and Ron turned the resort responsibilities over to their sons. They remained active in day-to-day operations.
Eleanor was a woman of strong faith; she has been a member of First Lutheran Church in Alexandria for many years. Eleanor enjoyed the out of doors. Garden was a favorite thing to do. She kept a vegetable garden and loved working in her flower gardens.
On Monday, September 6, 2021 Eleanor died at the age of ninety-five years. She was preceded in death by her parents; and thirteen siblings. Eleanor is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Langhoff of Villard; two sons, David Langhoff of Villard and Daniel Langhoff of Glenwood; granddaughter, Lindsey Mieras of Brooklyn Park, MN; two great grandchildren, Colin Mieras and Violet Mieras; one brother, Walter Schulz of St. Cloud, MN; and many nieces and nephews
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Reverend Greg Billberg will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
