Obituary

Douglas Eugene Jarett was born on December 20,1948, in Rochester, Minnesota to Eugene and Joanne (Crowley) Jarett. He graduated from Milan High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in mathematics at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall. Doug was united in marriage to Jayne Dvergsten at Watson Lutheran Church on August 28, 1971. To this union the couple was blessed with four children, Paul, Aaron, Nathan, and Sarah. The couple lived around the Twin Cities where Doug started his career in sales. In 1983, the family moved to Clara City where Doug went to work for Lutheran Brotherhood. He later went on his own and did independent financial planning. Doug retired in 2012 and they moved to Lobster Lake by Alexandria.

Doug was a devoted member of the Clara City community. He worked with the scouting program while his boys were scouts, managed an apartment complex, and served three terms as Mayor and 30 years as a Lions member. He was also very involved at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City; helping teach Sunday School and working with the youth group.  Doug enjoyed the fall harvest helping local farmers driving a beet truck. He also enjoyed golfing and many other sports, camping, going on cruises, collecting sports memorabilia and art. Most of all, Doug loved entertaining and spending time at the lake with friends and family.

Doug died on Monday, March 29, 2021, at his home at the age of 72. Doug was a compassionate and empathetic husband, father, and grandfather.  He is survived by his wife, Jayne of Alexandria; four children, Paul (fiancé, Jamie Jones) Jarett, their children, Andrew, Lincoln, Stella, Noah, and Janey of Byron; Aaron (Desirae) Jarett, their children, Nevada, Kyra, Kadence, and Magdelyn of Montevideo; Nathan (Cassandra) Jarett, their children, Arie, Brooks, and Callaway of Monticello; and Sarah (fiancé, Jason Loch) Hinrichs, their children, Brayden and Elizabeth of Clara City; father, Eugene Jarett of Alexandria; brother, Michael (Linda) Jarett of Ballwin, MO; sisters, Lyn (Don) Olson of Waseca, and Luana (Bob) Thompson of Rosemount; and many nieces and nephews. Doug is preceded in death by his mother, Joanne; and brother, Tom Jarett.  There are men, there are good men and there great men.  Douglas Eugene Jarett was a Great Man!  He was one of a kind! Doug was the one guy that had so much positive energy that when he entered the room, he created a certain environment that made people feel wanted, special, and safe.
