Donna Berglund

January 9, 1932 — April 28, 2022

Alexandria, Minnesota

Donna Lorraine Berglund, the daughter of Roy and Beatrice (Fearing) White, was born on January 9, 1932, in Osakis, MN.  She grew up in Osakis, where she enjoyed cheerleading and graduated from Osakis High School in 1950.  While in high school, Donna met the love of her life at the local roller-rink, Earl Berglund of Alexandria.  She married her high school sweetheart Earl, on June 2, 1951, at First Presbyterian Church in Osakis.  While Earl served in the United States Army, Donna lived in Alabama, where Earl was stationed.  They returned to Minnesota and lived near Alexandria.  Eventually they settled in Brooklyn Park, MN.  Donna and Earl had four children, Barb, Joe, Pat, and Tim.  Donna stayed at home to care for her children and Earl.  She also was an Election Judge in Brooklyn Park for many years.

However, the Alexandria area was always home to Donna and Earl.  In the late 60’s they built a cabin on Lake Carlos.   After a fire in 1991, they constructed a beautiful lake home and retired to Lake Carlos in 1993.  Donna loved the lake, cruising on the pontoon, watching all Minnesota sports teams – especially the Vikings and Twins, and sitting on their patio overlooking the lake watching sunsets with a fire in the pit and a steak on the grill.   This lake home was a place her family loved to visit.

Donna was a loving, devoted and caring wife.  Donna and Earl truly enjoyed being together.  They loved to dance and were always smiling.   The were early snowmobilers and went on snowmobile weekends with friends.   They bowled on a league and took home most of the trophies.  They loved to play cribbage and cards with friends and were tough to beat.  They were inseparable and the perfect match.

Donna  was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother She created everlasting memories for her family ,  Donna loved Christmas Eve and made it a family tradition.    She was a great cook, made the best desserts and no one left hungry.   She cared deeply for her family.   Donna was the heart of her family and will be missed.

Donna died peacefully on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at her home in Grand Arbor in Alexandria, Minnesota at the age of 90.
