Betty Lenore Schiele, 93, passed away on  December28, 2020,  with her family by her side.

Betty was born November 9th, 1927 in Glenwood, MN on beautiful Lake Minnewaska, to Theodore and Ella Sorset Olson.  Betty grew up in Brandon, MN and graduated in 1946.  She participated in band, choir, and was also a cheerleader.   After graduation she worked at Woolworth’s Five and Dime Store in Alexandria, MN.  She wanted to go to college and be a teacher, but there was no money for that.  On January 8, 1947, she married Joseph Schiele. They owned and operated Joe’s Café and Bar in Millerville, MN. It was destroyed by fire in 1951. They farmed for 1 year in Grove Lake, MN. They also farmed a few years by Millerville, MN and in 1954 they bought Hunt Lake Farm near Evansville, MN. In 1982 the farm was sold and they moved to Brandon, MN.   They wintered in Apache Jct., AZ. For 18 years, until 2013.

Joe and Betty were members of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Brandon.  Betty taught CCD classes and participated in the Mission Circle Group as well as Christian Mothers Club.

Betty was an Avon Sales Representative for 25 years.  Betty had a passion for books.  Her favorite book and movie was “Gone With The Wind.” She and Joe enjoyed dancing to big band music. Betty was on one of the first bowling teams at Don’s Lanes in Evansville. She even won a bowling ball one year. Betty enjoyed a good game of cards.  She enjoyed fishing with her good friend, Minnie Courrier on Lake Moses, near Millerville.  She enjoyed her “Red Hat” lady friends in Arizona.  She was a lady of great style and culture.  She loved to walk and swim.  Betty loved to sit by the lake and enjoy a lovely day or a beautiful sunset.  In 1979 she traveled to France, Germany, and Norway where she visited the Sorset family farm, where her grandfather was born.   Her and Joe would travel to Las Vegas throughout the years to visit her life long friend Shirley Hart.

In 2015 Betty moved into The Brandon Assisted Care Facility. We would like to express our special thank you to the  employees for their compassionate care and friendship that you gave our mother during her time there.  Also, a special thanks to Janet Hedine who also cared for our mother.

Betty was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  Betty was a woman of great faith.  She was humble, loving, compassionate, and strong.  Her naturally patient and kind spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.  She was a best friend.  She had a beautiful smile and a great sense of humor.  Her laugh, quick wit, and twinkle in her eye will be missed by her family and friends.
