He later started his own roofing company which he owned and operated for many years.

Andy was an outdoorsman. He loved to go deer and duck hunting in the fall. Andy liked fishing in the summer and winter. In his younger days he spent his winters trapping. He kept a large garden and liked canning his produce and making applesauce and sauerkraut. Andy kept three chickens so that he always had fresh eggs daily.  He also had a rooster that would wake him up at dawn.
