William Schroeder "Dome"

Sep 11, 1939 — Jul 2, 2026

Alexandria

William (Bill) "Dome" Schroeder, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at the St. Cloud Hospital, on July 2, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on September 11, 1939, the son of Henry and Nora Schroeder, in Marshall, MN, Bill lived a life rich with love, laughter, and hard work.

He graduated from high school in Marshall in the class of 1958. Bill met the love of his life, Charlene Buesing, during a Sunday service at Church. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving his country from January 14, 1958, until October 16, 1959. Bill and Char were married on January 23, 1960, and together they raised three sons: Dan, Todd, and Chad.

Bill was a true farmer at heart. He poured his sweat and joy into the land until retired at the age of 62. Over the years, Bill and Charlene fell in love with Lake Miltona and spent many happy years there, before moving to Alexandria. He enjoyed working at Alex Marine and Paul’s Small Engine before finally retiring at the age of 70, allowing him more time for the things he loved.

Bill lived life to the fullest and had a passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting with his sons and their families, and fishing with Char. He also enjoyed many memorable trips to Canada with Charlene and their friends, the Andersons. Bill was also known for his tinkering. He could always be found putzing around in his workshop, organizing tools, and concocting projects. He cherished family camping trips, spending the winters in Arizona with Char and golfing.

His family was his pride and joy. Bill cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, attending their activities and cheering them on. Sundays were a special time for him, where pizza, a cold beer, and MN Vikings games turned into cherished family traditions.

Bill will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Charlene; his sons, Daniel and Barb Schroeder of Brandon, Todd and Jill Schroeder of Marshall, and Chad and Heidi Schroeder of Alexandria; grandchildren, William (Madison) Schroeder, Michael Schroeder, Cody (Hannah) Schroeder, Chelsea (Lucas) Betterman, and Gracie (Zach) Driscoll; great grandchildren, Reid Betterman, Leah Betterman, June Driscoll, Lucy Driscoll, and Emilia Schroeder; brothers, Dale Schroeder and Dennis (Marcia) Schroeder; sister Marion (Duane) Pagel; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Henry and Nora Schroeder; sister Shirley Irsfeld and his sister-in-law, Darlene Schroeder.

A Celebration of "Dome's" life will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at 2 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Alexandria.
