1945 Wayne A. Lund 2026

Wayne Allen Lund

August 25, 1945 — April 15, 2026

Brandon, MN

“Straight Shooter”

Wayne Allen Lund was born to Walter Bernard and Josie Helen (Halgrimson) Lund in the Alexandria Hospital, Alexandria MN on August 25, 1945. He passed away on April 15, 2026, in the Saint Cloud Hospital. He was 80 years old.

Wayne grew up with eight siblings on the family farm near Brandon MN. He attended grades 1-12 in the Brandon school system and graduated in May 1963. He did well academically and athletically, playing high school baseball and basketball. He also played baseball (2nd base and pitcher) “for the fans” with the Brandon Blue Jays. Wayne umped summer league softball games, taking his job very seriously.

Wayne had a diseased kidney removed when six years old, thus living with just one kidney prevented him from doing certain activities such as football and military service.

Wayne and his family attended the Calvary Covenant Church in Evansville MN where he was baptized and confirmed. Calvary Covenant is where his faith and trust in God originated in Sunday School. “It goes with you wherever you are,” Wayne said in his final days after praying the Lord’s Prayer with the hospital chaplain.

Wayne attended the Alexandria Technical School and graduated from the Farm Equipment Mechanics course. Farming was his life’s dream. He helped his dad run the farming business in addition to milking up to forty cows. He also did custom work for other area farmers by swathing their grain. When his parents died in 1972, Wayne purchased the family farm and continued in the business. As other area farms became available, Wayne bought additional land to expand his business.

Later on, Wayne also worked at Fingerhut and then went on to Douglas Machine Company, Alexandria, beginning in 1990 and retiring in 2025 with a 35-year career.

Wayne always displayed a joyful personality. Friends and town folks could recognize his friendly waves and horn toots as he drove through town each day after work.

Wayne never married and had no children. He was preceded in death by his parents, half-brothers Edsel (Mary Ellen) and Melvin (Bernice), and sisters Corrinne Doose Kruize and Helen Townsend. He is survived by sisters Grace Heinrich (Saint Paul MN), and Jean (Charles) Esala (Brandon), brothers John (Karen) Lund (Brandon), and Chester (Nanette) Lund (Bandera TX), and 7 nephews (Larry Doose—deceased) and 13 nieces as well as their numerous offspring.

Anderson Funeral Home, 659 Voyager Drive NW, Alexandria MN provided the Cremation and will conduct a Visitation beginning at 4:00pm with the Prayer and Remembrance Service at 6:30pm on Friday, June 5, 2026.

Wayne’s ashes to be interred alongside his parents in the Mound Grove Cemetery, Evansville MN.

Any Memorial Donations may be directed to the Calvary Covenant Church, 404 Meeker St NW, Evansville MN 56326.
