Trudy Marie Hoelzel

Trudy was born in St. Paul on October 24, 1938, and passed away on September 11, 2026, she was 87 yrs old. 

She is survived by her brother Paul (Lynn) and sister-in-law Judy (Steven), niece Tamara (John), nephews David, Scot, Chad, & Jason, grandnieces Cassie and Ashley and their families. She is preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Gertrude Hoelzel, brothers Dale and Steven, and niece Taryl. 

As the only girl with 3 younger brothers, she was nicknamed “Queenie”. Trudy was a life-long loyal St. Paulite, never wanting to live anywhere else. Trudy was a single, strong, opinionated, career woman and proud of it. A graduate of Washington High school class of 1956. She went on to secretarial school, and her first job was at the Ramsey County library, downtown St. Paul. She then spent the rest of her career working for the City of St. Paul as a clerk in Public Works and then assisting the St. Paul City Council with their meetings and other tasks. She had lots of stories about that role! 

She was an adventurer, liked to travel, and spent lots of time in North Dakota at her best friend’s ranch, the farm in Marine on the St. Croix, and liked doing road trips in Minnesota and beyond. Many that knew her may not have known she was quite the artist, drawing, painting, stained glass work as well as other mediums. She loved bowling, her cats and gardening, and she had a wicked sense of humor. She will be greatly missed.

There will be a short graveside service at Elmhurst Cemetery in St. Paul, Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 1:00pm near the corner of Arundel St. and W. Nebraska Avenue.
