Terry Lee Swanstrom, a beloved husband, father, and respected member of the Alexandria community, peacefully passed away on December 12, 2023, at the age of 70. He was born in Breckinridge, MN, to George and Helen (Petzke) Swanstrom.

Terry's journey began in Dwight, ND, where he spent his childhood before moving to Alexandria, MN, in 1971. He graduated from Jefferson High School, and it was during his senior year that he encountered Margaret Wolters, who would later become the love of his life. They would reunite 10 years after high school and, on July 21, 1984, Terry and Margaret were united in marriage in Glenwood, MN. Together, they created a beautiful life and raised two wonderful children, Daniel and Megan who brought immeasurable joy and pride to their lives.

From a young age, Terry displayed a passion for automotive repair. He started his career at the Westerfold Mobile Station at the age of 17, and his dedication and expertise inspired him to establish his own business, Swanstrom Auto Repair. For over 30 years, Terry tirelessly operated his shop, building a reputation for honesty, fairness, and exceptional service. His customers knew him as a skilled technician, a true friend, and always willing to go the extra mile. Terry had a remarkable sense of humor, a quick wit, and a kind heart that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Terry’s family was his pride and joy, and he worked tirelessly to ensure their happiness and wellbeing. Family camping trips, unforgettable vacations, and leisurely boating adventures were cherished moments that brought them closer together. Margaret fondly remembers their trips to Alaska, Hawaii, and Florida, while Megan will always hold dear the unwavering support and love he poured into every aspect of her life.  Daniel, who followed in Terry's footsteps and joined him in the family business, will forever cherish the countless hours spent side by side with his dad, learning the ins and outs of automotive repair.  As retirement beckoned, Terry knew he could entrust his legacy to his son, Daniel, who happily carried forth the traditions and values Terry had instilled in him.

Terry's green thumb extended to his garden, where he found solace and nurtured his love for nature. His warm-hearted and generous nature stood as a testament to the incredible man he was.

In addition to his loving wife, Margaret, Terry is survived by his son, Daniel (Jill) Swanstrom of Alexandria, his daughter, Megan Swanstrom of Rochester, his grandchildren, Adeline Swanstrom of Alexandria and Jaxson Hanson of Rochester, his brother, Larry (Cindy) Swanstrom of Rosemount, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Rory Swanstrom.
