Susanne "Sue" Wanda Nolan, 80 of Alexandria, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025. Memorial services will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria, with a funeral luncheon at the Holiday Inn to follow. A public visitation will take place on Thursday, November 13th from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Anderson Funeral Home, as well as one hour prior to services on Friday.
Sue was born on March 8, 1945 to Percy and Wanda (Franklin) Ensign in Alexandria, MN. The second eldest of four children, Sue loved to socialize and visit.
Following graduation Susanne moved to the Twin Cities for a short time before moving back to Alexandria to start her career at the TV station in town, KCMT. She spent 25 years at the station before it’s close. Susanne then went to work for The Holiday Inn in Alexandria for almost 30 years before her retirement. Throughout her career there, Sue would hold many roles – from doing the nightly audit, to being the face of the hotel that everyone loves and remembers while holding down the front desk.
No matter her role, Sue was always a hard worker. And even working as much as she did, she never missed an event that her children were a part of. Always giving and kind, Susanne’s dedication to her friends and family was unparalleled.
In 1987, Sue met Dell Krebs and the two spent the remainder of their lives together raising their family. In 1995 Sue and Dell moved onto Dell’s family farm. Together, they enjoyed their time dancing, gardening (mostly Dell), and catering to the visiting hunters (mostly Sue). After Dell’s passing in 2015, Sue remained on the farm for almost a year before relocating to her apartment in town.
While it was a difficult decision to leave the farm, Sue thrived in town - which made her life much easier as she greatly enjoyed going to breakfast (and depending on who was there to visit, sometimes staying for lunch), having her coffee time with her girlfriends, and attending her grandkids’ events when close enough.
Sue never met a stranger and her loss will be felt by so many. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Dan (Nicole) Nolan, Missy (Vic) Ford; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Arlene Bergemann; brothers and sisters-in-law: Jack (Joyce) Nolan, Mark (Jeannie) Nolan, Connie (Gene) Rasmussen, Jill Schoeck; along with several other beloved family members and countless friends. Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Percy and Wanda Ensign; the love of her life, Dell Krebs; son, Jeff Nolan; grandson, Ryan Nolan; brothers, Gerry Ensign and Roger Ensign; and brother-in-law, Al Bergemann.
In lieu of flowers memorials to be donated in Sue’s memory are preferred.
