Susan Barten

November 6, 1950 — October 12, 2022

Carlos

Susan Kay (Hansen) Barten passed away in her sleep on October 12th, 2022, after a hard-fought battle with Pancreatic Cancer.   Vigilantly spending countless hours together to the end, she is survived by her husband of 53 years, Clifford Barten.

Sue began her life on November 6, 1950 in Springfield MN, the closest hospital to Lamberton at the time.  Spending her early years near the Hansen and Jeppesen families.  Around 1963 her parents moved the family to Leaf Valley MN to start farming.  When Cliff asked Sue for a date, it was also meet the parents too!  Who knew there was no backing out after that date, as they were married on July 19, 1969 at St Nicholas Church in Belle River MN.  Susan was never one to sit idle.  On the Barten family farm in Belle River, she was not only a Farmer’s wife, she was also an Avon distributer for years.  With a desire to help others she started her journey in healthcare, which began as a Home Health Care Aide for Douglas County where she helped others that needed extra care in their homes.  She then became a C.N.A. at the Osakis Nursing home for many years, which lead to her having a deeper desire to become an L.PN. at the Alexandria Clinic.  When it was time to slow down, Susan did not, she picked up her God given gift of sewing.  (Did we forget to tell you – she sewed many outfits for Candy, Colleen, and Steve growing up.)  She was blessed with the art of quilting (ran in the family) and spent countless hours making the most amazing, beautiful quilts, which will be cherished.

Sue is survived by husband, Clifford, her mother Irene (Jeppesen) Hansen Williams, brothers Robert (Rebecca) Hansen and Scott (Kathy) Hansen.  Also survived by children:  Candyce (Blair) Barten-Hastings, Colleen Barten, and Steven (Mary Wessel) Barten.  Grandchildren: Justin & Jared Barten, Joshua & Zachary Hastings, Sierra (Hastings) Feiler, Heather & Michael (Sierra) Barten and Jesse Pallin, Kristin Rodgers, Kiya Reiter.  Great-grandchildren:  Nivea Barten, Kaydance Rika, and Elaina & Theo Barten and Bryce & Amelia Rodgers, Easton Reiter, Mason Pallin.  Not to mention the Uncles & Aunts, Cousins, Nieces & Nephews that are always loved and never forgotten, as family no matter how far and wide, are what makes Family!

Suzy is joining her father Alton Hansen, Father and Mother-In-Law Thomas and Mary Barten, Sister-In-Law Shirley (Barten) & Rudy Zeithamer, along with many other loved ones in her life that were waiting for her in heaven.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022, at 1 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Father Mark Botzet officiating.
