Stanley Johnsrud

January 26, 1937 — May 2, 2021

Alexandria

Stanley Eugene Johnsrud, son of Louis and Clarice (Larson) Johnsrud, was born in rural Kensington, January 26, 1937, the youngest of three siblings. He was baptized and confirmed at Solem Lutheran in rural Kensington. His family lived and farmed in the Kensington area for many years and Stanley graduated from Kensington High School in 1955.  He proudly served in the Army and was honorably discharged.  Stanley held various jobs until the death of his brother-in-law, Warren Tvrdik.  He then joined forces with his sister, Lovelle, and farmed with her for 17 years helping her raise her 5 children, who held a very special place in his heart.  In 1966, he married Helen Lee and they continued farming with his sister until they purchased property on Lake Reno and built their own farm site where they raised their own 3 children.  There they farmed until he semi-retired.  He sold Pioneer Seed corn for 25 years while farming and then started doing crop insurance adjusting after his semi-retirement. This he continued to do until he fully retired in December of 2019.

Stanley loved visiting with friends and neighbors and playing cards.  He also loved working with his hands and was good at “fixing” things. He was a good carpenter and enjoyed making various things out of wood.  He was a member of the Glenwood Masonic Lodge for many years where he was Master two different times.  He was a member of the Lake Mary Town Board for several years and was on the church council of First Lutheran Church in Alexandria for one term.  In his younger years, he really enjoyed traveling and could say that he had visited all 50 states.

Stanley is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helen of Alexandria; three children: Jakki (Tom) Trihey of Mantorville, MN; Brian (Noelle Gonsalves) of Menlo Park, CA; and Brent (Courtney) of Windsor, CO; four grandchildren: Benjamin, Catherine, and Patrick Trihey, and Andon Johnsrud as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louie and Clarice, as well as his sister and brother-in-law, Lovelle and Warren Tvrdik, his brother-in-law, Irv Klinger, his brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Beverly (Johnsrud) Martinson; his nephew, Reed Tvrdik; several  aunts and uncles, and many dear, dear friends.

His family requests that memorials be sent to the First Lutheran Church Building Fund or Knute Nelson Hospice.
