Scott Arthur Ellis

Scott Arthur Ellis, born on April 14, 1969, in Alexandria, Minnesota, passed away on July 24, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication to his family, a reputation for hard work, and an excitement for life that touched all who knew him.

Scott spent his formative years in Alexandria, where he graduated from high school and began fostering a deep appreciation for the community and nature. Those who knew him remember fondly the stories he shared about growing up with his grandparents at Lake Latoka, a place that continued to hold special meaning throughout his life.

Throughout his career, Scott took on many different roles but found his greatest satisfaction working as a bus driver. He took pride in his work and was always regarded as a dependable and familiar face on his routes. His work ethic set an example for others, as did his willingness to lend a helping hand to family and friends with any project, always armed with remarkable knowledge.

Scott’s passions revolved primarily around the outdoors. He cherished time spent hunting, enjoying days out on the lake, and stock car racing. He loved assisting his children with their go-carts and shared countless memorable moments with his beloved pets. For all his pursuits, it was perhaps his sweet tooth that set him apart, Scott loved all desserts, particularly cake.

Family was at the core of Scott’s world. He is survived by his loving wife, Sheri Ellis; his daughters, Sam Ellis and Sydney Guindon; his son-in-law, Brett Guindon; his father, Gary Ellis, and step-mother, Barb Ellis. He is also survived by his brothers, Marcus Fay and Brian (Vanessa) Holmberg; his parents-in-law, Ted and Norma Steidl; his niece, Kenzie Holmberg; and many extended family.

Scott’s memory will also be cherished by those who preceded him in death: his mother, Susan Fay; grandparents, Arthur and Alice Ellis; father-in-law, Lee Klefstad; and his aunt and uncle, Arlou and Rod Femrite.

A spirit of adventure highlighted Scott’s life. He and his family enjoyed many cruises together in the Caribbean and most recently in Alaska—a testament to their love and time spent together. At home and abroad, Scott was always a source of support, warmth, and humor for those around him.

Honoring his life and legacy, visitation will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, 605 Douglas St, Alexandria, MN 56308. An additional visitation will take place on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m., both at Calvary Lutheran Church.

Scott Arthur Ellis will be remembered always for his unfailing generosity, his commitment to those he loved, and the warmth with which he approached every day.
