Sandra Kay (Christianson) Piepkorn passed away on Sunday, March 22nd, 2026, at Bethany on the Lake at 74 years old. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 24th, 2026, at Anderson Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Sandra Kay (Christianson) Piepkorn was born on December 29, 1951, in Alexandria, MN. She was the eldest of three daughters born to Olaf and Helen (Jelsing) Christianson. Raised in Alexandria during her early years, Sandra moved with her family to Clarissa, MN during her high school years. Sandra's passion and talent for music were evident early on; she was deeply involved in music and singing throughout her high school tenure. Her remarkable dedication was recognized when she became one of only two students from each state elected to travel to Europe as part of a choir tour. Graduating from Clarissa High School in 1969, she further demonstrated her charisma by being named first runner-up for Miss Vacationland of Wadena.

She pursued her passion for music education at St. Cloud State University, where she met her future husband, Lee Piepkorn. Following their marriage, Sandra and her husband settled in Wadena, Minnesota. She devoted herself to teaching in Verndale and Motley, sharing her musical gifts and passion with her students. Their family grew with the birth of their son, Jeremiah, in Wadena in 1981. Demonstrating versatility and entrepreneurial spirit, Sandra also engaged in sales with the Coppercraft Guild, achieving such success that she was awarded a trip to Germany by her employer—a testament to her dedication and drive.

In 1984, she faced a significant health challenge when diagnosed with a brain tumor. Defying medical expectations, Sandra survived this serious illness, though the treatment consequently changed the course of her life. Following this, she moved to Fargo, ND, working various odd jobs before purchasing a home in Osakis, MN, where she made her permanent residence. As her health further declined, she relocated to Bethany on the Lake, where she spent her remaining years.

Sandra was a woman of many passions and talents. She loved animals deeply, especially horses, cats, and dogs. Her heart was captivated by unicorns, and she was an avid collector of related items. She cherished chickadees and held a profound appreciation for nature. Music remained a central joy in Sandra’s life; she was skilled in playing the piano and guitar, craftsman in jewelry making, and enjoyed sewing and coloring. A lover of astronomy, Sandra often gazed at the galaxy through her telescope. Above all, Sandra possessed a strong faith and a particular fondness for angels, which brought her comfort throughout her life’s journey.
