Ruth Ann Molloy, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully in Alexandria Minnesota on Tuesday March 26, 2024. She was born December 13, 1960 in Mason City Iowa to parents Robert & Nancy Hunsaker. Ruth's journey through life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family, career, and many lives she touched through her dedication and kindness.
Ruth earned her bachelors from the University of Northern Iowa and completed her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license. Her professional career started at Citizens 1st National Bank in Storm Lake IA. In 1995 she took a new role as trust officer at Bremer Bank, moving her family to Alexandria MN. After 24 years at Bremer, she made a courageous career change becoming a financial advisor for Edward Jones in 2019. She had an amazing relationship with all her coworkers and clients, continuing to help them diligently even throughout her illness. Her strong work ethic and dedication were evident to all who knew her.
Outside of work, Ruth's true passion lay in caring for her loved ones. Known for spoiling everyone from her husband Joe to her grandchildren, Ruth found great joy in ensuring that each person was well-fed (with a meal to their individual liking) and cared for. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her family as she also dedicated herself to various community activities including Scrapbooking, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Religious Education, Bible Study, and serving as a Eucharistic Minister.
Ruth's love for music was profound; She enjoyed playing the flute since 5th grade, she even played at her son Paul’s wedding. She also played the handbells, she was the Sub-Area Chair for the Minnesota North region of Area 7. She played for two bell choirs, St. Mary’s in Alexandria & Glenwood Lutheran Church. She traveled to 5 handbell festivals, 3 Anthornis events, a couple of Director’s Seminars, and could cover pretty much any position presented to her. Ruth's artistic talent also shone through her sewing & cross-stitching skills - she even handcrafted her own wedding gown. Additionally she cherished moments spent camping with loved ones and was also an animal lover with a particular fondness for cats.
A planner by nature, Ruth excelled in academics and initially dreamt of becoming a teacher. While she didn't pursue teaching professionally, she embodied the role at heart by supporting Joe and their children academically and passed the torch to her daughter Natalie who went on to become a teacher.
Ruth is survived by her loving husband Joe Molloy; sons Paul (Lauren) Molloy, Todd (Lyndsi) Molloy; daughter Natalie (Brenton) Hoff; grandchildren Rylie, Morgan, Jayden, Isaiah, Linkoln, Odyn, Gryffin, Amelia and Emmet; sister Offie (Mark) Walvatne; a large extended family; and her cherished cats Blackjack, Dezy Ray, and Scarlet.
She is preceded in death by her parents Robert & Nancy Hunsaker along with her infant triplets Robert, Joseph, and Sally Ann Molloy whose memories will live on forever.
Ruth Ann Molloy will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A visitation will be held on April 12th at Anderson Funeral Home on Voyager Drive from 5-7pm followed by a Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church on April 13th at 11am. Lunch will follow directly after the service. May memories of Ruth's warmth and kindness comfort those who mourn her loss while celebrating the beautiful life she lived.
