Ruth Bernice Alcott was born in March, 1933 in Orange Township, Douglas County, MN to John and Bernice (Cobert) Pantze. She attended the rural District 7 school and later attended school in Villard.
Ruth was united in marriage to Donald Robert (Bob) Alcott on September 20, 1955, in Webster, SD. The couple made their home in Alexandria until 1956 when Donald was drafted into the U.S. Army and stationed at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas where they remained until 1958. Thereafter they returned to Alexandria which became their permanent residence.
In her youth, Ruth was an avid horsewoman. She trained her horse, Beauty, to perform tricks and enjoyed horseback riding with friends and relatives. Ruth was a homemaker most of her life, though for a few years she did housekeeping work for some clients in the Alexandria area. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, bowling and snowmobiling. When she was young, Ruth learned to play piano and accordion and enjoyed making music throughout her life. She was also an enthusiastic vegetable and flower gardener. Over many years, Ruth compiled an extensive collection of genealogical information about her and Bob’s respective families, and her daughter, Sandra, is continuing this work.
Ruth and Bob were members of Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria for many years.
Ruth died on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Woodland Good Samaritan Care Center in Brainerd. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (James) Erickson of Brainerd; Grandchildren Holly Erickson and Patrick Erickson, also of Brainerd. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her brother, Harold Pantze; and her parents John and Bernice Pantze.

A Memorial service will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 11 AM at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Alexandria.
A visitation will take place one hour prior to service.
Interment will be in Villard Cemetery.
