Ruby I. Jasmer of Alexandria, Minnesota, peacefully died on Saturday, June 13, 2026, in her home at Nelson Gables at the age of 90 years old.
Ruby Irene (Lage) Jasmer was born on December 1, 1935 to Ernest and Elsie (Sachan) Lage in Bartlett Township, near Verndale, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Bartlett Township and attended grade school, through the 8th grade, at District #115. Ruby’s first three years of high school were in Staples, Minnesota, before Ruby and her parents, moved to El Monte, California in 1952. Ruby graduated from El Monte High School in 1953. She worked at Pacific Finance Company and on September 5, 1954 she was married to Melvin H. Jasmer. The couple continued to live in California until 1958 when they moved back to Minnesota.
Ruby and Melvin bought a resort, Camp Omaha on Lake Ida. They owned and operated the resort from 1958 – 1997 and then moved to Lake Miltona. The couple joined Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Ruby worked at two different local banks. Since retiring she has enjoyed Zion Women’s Fellowship, Parish Fellowship and going to many rallies and conventions, including many LWML conventions.
Ruby enjoyed crafts and putting puzzles together and visiting with the many friends she and Melvin made throughout their life.
Mel and Ruby were blessed with one son, Rod; and three grandchildren, Alisha, Erica and Peter, enjoying them very much.
Ruby was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Melvin Jasmer, parents, Ernest and Elsie Lage, brother, Russel Lage, and daughter-in-law Valerie Jasmer.
She is survived by her loving son, Rod Jasmer of Miltona, grandchildren, Alisha Jasmer (Art Pierson) and their daughter Fiona Pierson of Santa Clarita, CA, Erica Jasmer of Denver, CO, and Peter (Kalahan) Jasmer and their daughter, Kollyns Jasmer of Shafer, MN, and her brother Norman (Shari) Lage.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 1 PM at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria.
A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service on Friday beginning at 12:00 PM.
Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Miltona, MN.
