Rosemary was born on February 11, 1932 to Frank and Clara (Bruckbauer) Fischer. She grew up on the family farm near Sleepy Eye, attended country school and eventually obtained her GED. Rosemary met the love of her life, Hilary Tauer, while being employed at Del Monte in Sleepy Eye, September, 1949. Hilary and Rosemary married on May 1, 1956 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, MN. They resided in New Ulm until 1965 and then moved to Windom. They were blessed with two children, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In 2012 they moved to Alexandria to be closer to their daughter Rhonda and eventually moved to Fergus Falls.
Rosemary started sewing drapes for Herberger’s and small items for neighbors but really didn’t enjoy it. One day her and a friend decided to re-upholster a chair for someone and after that she realized her niche, which eventually lead to her starting her own business ‘Tauer Upholstery’ in Windom. She really enjoyed being self-employed especially for the fact that she could be at home for her girls. They raised their children with love, hard work & dedication and were there unconditionally for their grandchildren.
Besides upholstering furniture, Rosemary began making all sorts of items using furniture fabric. She made purses, travel bags, pillows, blanket, you name it, she would make it! Rosemary also enjoyed gardening, baking, music & dancing. Even at the nursing home, she was in the choir and would dance up a storm with the other residents and staff! She was such a happy-go-lucky person, had a great sense of humor, enjoyed a good joke or two, and simply loved everyone. Hilary and Rosemary enjoyed everything that life brought them and they were inseparable during their lifetime – always holding hands no matter where they were.
They liked to experience life by camping and traveling, whether it was a week at a lake with friends and family or longer excursion to places like the World’s Fair in Nashville, family reunion in California, visiting family in Alaska, to even long weekend music festivals in North Dakota and Missouri. Rosemary loved visiting with and getting to know everyone. She had an amazingly great life and was loved by many. She will be deeply missed but is now united & holding hands once again with the love of her life!
She is survived by children Janice Tauer, Martin, SD; Rhonda (Marc) Bot, Miltona, MN; three grandchildren, Ashley (Derek) Olson, Allison Richards, Amanda Daberkow; six great-grandchildren, Reese Olson, Emmet Olson, Barret Olson, Riker Richards, Anna Daberkow, Alex Daberkow; brother Sylvester (LaVon) Fischer; sister Olivia Binder; sisters-in-law: Genny Fischer and Elaine Beranek; brother-in-law Willard Tauer.
She was preceded in death by husband, Hilary Tauer; parents, Frank and Clara; brothers and sisters-in-law: Emil, Edwin and Gertrude, Herbert and Irene, Arthur and Lorraine, Wilbert and Theresa, Benjamin.
