Roger Leo Josephson was born December 23, 1939, to Walter and Hulda Josephson in Urness Township. He passed away on May 17, 2026. Roger was a man of quiet strength, steady hands, and a generous heart. He never sought attention, but the people who knew and loved him knew they could always count on him.
At just 17 years old, with his mother’s support, Roger joined the United States Navy. During nearly four years of service, he traveled extensively and collected many stories and experiences that he enjoyed sharing throughout his life. His time in the Navy helped shape the hardworking, resilient man his family came to know so well.
After returning home, Roger worked a variety of jobs, including over-the-road trucking, before spending 18 years with Douglas Machine until retirement. A true jack of all trades, there wasn’t much Roger couldn’t fix, build, or figure out. If something needed repair — or someone needed help — Roger was usually the person to call.
Though often a man of few words, Roger showed his love through actions. He enjoyed working on racecars, woodworking, caring for his lawn and garden, and camping with family and friends. He appreciated simple things, time spent outdoors, and keeping busy with a project in the garage or around the yard.
Roger is survived by his daughters, Dawn Josephson (Paul Rykhus) and Wendy (Rick) Hauer; grandchildren, Aja (Rick) Mayer, Dylan (Sierra) Hauer, Mackenzie (Dan) Butler, and Morgan Hauer; and great-grandchildren, Carter Mayer, Zailey Mayer, Bryar Butler, Landon Hauer, Harvey Hauer, Eleanora Hauer, Delbert Hauer, and Violetta Hauer. He is also survived by his brothers, Raymond Josephson and Russell Josephson; sisters, Lilly Olson, Linda Miner, Norma Anderson, Josie Kangas, and Rosie Kangas; and his significant other, Faye Fuoss, along with her two children and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Shirley Dennis; ex-wife Elaine Josephson; sister-in-law Barb and Bev; and brothers-in-law Richard, Robert, Dale, Verle, Jack, and Phil.
Friends and family are invited to honor Roger’s memory on May 22, 2026, with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m., at Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory in Alexandria, Minnesota.
Roger will be remembered for his willingness to help, his quiet humor, his strong work ethic, and the care he showed the people around him. His family takes comfort knowing his stories, lessons, and steady presence will live on through the generations that loved him.
