Robert (Bob) A. Meyers went to the lord on March 23, 2026 at the age of 85. Bob was born at Our Lady of Mercy hospital in Alexandria, MN on July 21, 1940. His parents Alvin and Harriet (Richards) Meyers farmed North of Osakis until 1949. His family moved to Alexandria for one year and then moved out west to California. They lived in California for two years before moving back to Alexandria. In 1954, Bob came down with Polio and spent 7 months at Sister Kenny Hospital in Minneapolis. On the day he was released from hospital the polio vaccine was approved. Bob graduated from Central High School in 1958. After graduation he moved out west to Wyoming to work in a uranium mine with his father until 1960. On January 16, 1960 he married Marcene (Micki) Geris in Alexandria. They lived in Moorhead, MN, during that time they had two children Alvin and Debra. They moved back to Alexandria in 1962. In January 1966 they moved out west to California because of his childhood memories. While in California they both work at Douglas Aircraft Corporation in Torrance until 1970. In June of 1970 they moved back to Alexandria and Bob worked at Bellanca Aircraft Company. After 5 years he went to work for Douglas Machine Inc. In the Spring of 1980 they purchased their home on Lake Carlos. For the next 42 years they enjoyed the lake life entertaining family and friends. Bob retired from Douglas in 2000 after 25 years of service. During retirement they travelled to Alaska, Florida, Hawaii, Michigan, Texas and Mexico. They spent twelve winters basking in the sun on SeaGrove Beach, Florida. They enjoyed retirement life together for almost 26 years. Bob always enjoyed watching his grandchildren participating in many different sports and activities. Bob was known for always keeping his cars clean and owning something just a little different. He once said that living on the lake you have two front yards so he took pride in keeping both of them up with his Johnny D 112L lawn tractor.
Waiting for him in heaven are his parents (Alvin and Harriet Meyers), mother and father in-law (Ves and Lou Geris), brother in-law (Butch Geris) and great grandson (Milo Woessner).
He is survived by his wife of 66 years Micki, his son Al (Jeanette), daughter Debbie (Steve Woessner), 9 grandchildren (Jona Meyers, Jami (Matt) Jones, Jacki (Matt) Anderson, Zach Hunke, Josh (Elise) Meyers, Emanuel (Angie) Hunke, Martin (Holly) Woessner, Mike (Lauren) Woessner, Mason Woessner and 21 great grandchildren.
He will be sadly missed but his fond memories will last forever.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026, 10:00 - 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alexandria with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery.
