Richard “Dick” Iverson was born on March 4, 1943, in Owatonna, Minnesota the son of Mick and Phyllis Iverson. At the age of 14 Dick started working at Duffy’s Grocery Store. He attended Owatonna High School and graduated from there in 1961. He furthered his education at the University of Minnesota and this is where he met Joan Kemble during Welcome Week.
Richard and Joan were united in marriage on April 4, 1964 at Immaculate Conception Church in Columbia Heights. After their marriage the couple lived in the Coon Rapids area where they raised their family. Dick and Joan later moved to Alexandria.
Throughout his life Dick worked in the Grocery Store industry. His favorite place to work was Eldens in Alexandria. He was a member of the FOE 3063 and a bowling coach for Special Olympics.
Dick was a huge Vikings fan and had season tickets for many years. He also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins. Dick loved fishing with his family and his good friend, Jim Fette. He treasured time with family whether it was camping, going to their different activities or traveling.
Richard died on December 18, 2024, at his home. He is survived by his wife, Joan; children Amie (Jim) Masterson, Rick Iverson, Mike (Pam) Iverson, Steve (Kathleen) Iverson; 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; sisters: Penny and Peggy; brother, John; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, 10:00 – 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
