Raymond E. Hanson

June 7, 1947 — May 17, 2025

Brandon

Raymond Eugene Hanson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on June 7, 1947, the son of Conrad and Leila (Peterson) Hanson, in Alexandria, MN.

Ray graduated from Brandon High School in 1965, going on and attending Alexandria Technical College, where he earned his machinist certification in 1967. On October 24, 1970, Ray married his beloved wife, Rosie King, at St. Luke's Church in Garfield, MN. Together, they built a beautiful life, filled with cherished memories and a strong family bond.

As a skilled machinist, Ray dedicated 28 years of his career to Alex Extrusion before moving on to West Central Metal Fabrication, where he worked for over 23 years until his retirement in 2020. His work ethic and craftsmanship were a testament to his character, and he took pride in everything he created.

Ray was passionate about old tractors and thrived in the company of fellow enthusiasts, attending numerous threshing shows over the years. He had a love for hunting and camping, relishing the chance to spend time outdoors with family and friends. Above all, Ray adored being a grandpa and great-grandpa, showering his grandchildren with love and attention. With a great sense of humor, he was always ready to share a joke or two. Ray was known for his strength and resilience, qualities that will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.

In addition to his roles as a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Ray served his community in various capacities. He was an active member of the West Moe Church, where he served on the board as treasurer, as well as chairman of the Alexandria Tech Machine Shop/Welding Advisory Board. Ray was also involved in the Moe Township Board, holding positions as treasurer, supervisor, and chairman, and he proudly shared his passion for firearms as a safety instructor.

Ray was especially proud that the family farm has continued to stay in the family for over 150 years. His legacy of hard work and love for family will never be forgotten by those whose lives he touched.

Ray is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Rosie Hanson; sons, Mike (Karie) Hanson and Bryan (Kim) Hanson; grandchildren, Haley (William) Lund and Hayden (Makenna) Hanson; great grandchildren, Briella, Emma, Hannah, and Walker Lund and baby boy Hanson; brothers, Howard (Ardelle) Hanson and Dwayne (Renee) Hanson; sister, Anita (Jim) Allison and sister-in-law, Linette Hanson, nieces and nephews.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Conrad and Leila Hanson; and brother Charlie Hanson.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Vivie Hospice. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 5-7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
