Patricia (Pat) was born on March 30th, 1942, in Fargo, ND to Melchior and Lucille (Cowling) Johnson. She was raised in Dilworth, Minnesota and graduated from Dilworth High School. After high school, she attended and graduated from the Sisters of Saint Joseph School of Nursing in Grand Forks, ND. She married Frederick Jahner, the love of her life, in 1965. Together they raised 6 children and were married for 56 years.
Pat worked as a registered nurse in various departments including the emergency room, labor and delivery, and home health care. Her favorite job, however, was at Saint Patrick’s in Dickinson as the Parish Nurse from 2000 to 2008. She also taught piano lessons and was a self-taught organist, faithfully playing at Saint Patrick’s for many years. In 2008, Pat and Fred retired to Alexandria, MN.
Mom was a great nurse and loved her job, but most of all, she loved life and family. Along with dad, mom had a strong faith which they passed on to us. The example our parents gave us in their marriage, their faith, their mutual love, their sacrifices, and in their hard work is something we still aspire to imitate. We have so many memories of mom enjoying life, baking, cooking, finding joy in the little things like music, finding a good deal at Herberger's, and playing rummy and bingo to name a few. She was truly one of kind and touched the hearts of all who knew her. We could not have had a better mother!
Mom loved Saint Patrick’s Day. We feel it is fitting that this was the day she was called home to the Lord, to Dad who she missed so much, to Granny, and to many friends and relatives.
Pat is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved grandparents, her sister Helen Ali, and her cherished husband Fred. She leaves behind her children: Mitchell and Christi Jahner (Glenwood, MN), Mary Pat Jahner (Warsaw, ND), Jann and Darrin Neameyer (West Fargo, ND), Dean and Amy Jahner (Carlos, MN), Mark and Rachel Jahner (Alexandria, MN), and Dianna and Jeremiah Trnka (Bismarck, ND). Her siblings: Dick Johnson and Betty Dickenson, 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed!
The family prefers memorials to Saint Gianna and Pietro Molla Maternity Home in Minto, ND in lieu of flowers.
