Pat Marie Thompson

April 20, 1936 — May 22, 2026

Alexandria

Patricia “Pat” Nyberg Thompson, born April 20, 1936, in Kamiah, Idaho was the beloved daughter of Lester and Helen Olive. Pat lived a life deeply rooted in faith, kindness, and service to others. She peacefully entered into the arms of her Savior surrounded by the love of her family.

In 1956, Pat married the love of her life, Howard Nyberg, and together they built a beautiful life filled with faith, hard work, laughter, and devotion to family in Aitkin, MN. Their marriage was centered on love, partnership, and raising their family with strong Christian faith. Through life’s joys and challenges, they stood faithfully beside one another, creating a home that was always welcoming, warm, and full of care for others. Howard and Pat shared many cherished years together before he preceded her in death.

She began her career as a bank teller before becoming an insurance agent to help pay for her children’s braces. What started as a practical decision became a 45-year career because of the love she had for her customers and community. Pat never viewed people as clients — she viewed them as friends and family.

Pat dedicated 52 years to teaching Sunday school, faithfully sharing God’s word with generations of children. Her greatest desire was for every child to understand that “it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it’s a gift of God.” This was her favorite bible verse, Ephesians 2:8. Her faith was not simply something she spoke about — it was how she lived every day.

Later in life, she found companionship and love again when she married Dennis Thompson. During the ten years they shared together, Dennis cared for Pat with unwavering love and devotion, and he quickly became a deeply loved and treasured part of the family.

Pat leaves behind her two loving sons and their families, who were the joy of her life: Steve and Gay Nyberg, and their children Laura, Lyle, Ryan, Hannah, and Faith; and Mark and Colleen Nyberg, and their children Jennifer, Cameron, Molly, and Carson. She was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

She also lovingly embraced Dennis’ family as her own, including Paul and Jeanne and their children Matt, Isabel, Ava, AJ and Livia; and Jeff and Karmin and their children Lynneah and Marshal. Along with two great-grandchildren.

Pat lived a life centered on giving and caring for others. She was the most selfless person anyone could ever meet.

She dedicated her life to being the hands and feet of Jesus. She was selfless, through and through. To know Patty was to be truly loved by her.

Her legacy of unwavering faith, unconditional love, and servant’s heart will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and joyfully reunited with those who went before her in God’s eternal kingdom.
