Oliver Jerome Becker, affectionately known as Ollie, was born on January 5, 1930, in Effington Township, Minnesota. He left this life on February 23, 2026, leaving a legacy of work, devotion to family, and cherished friends.
Ollie dedicated much his life to a career as a driver, where he spent 28 years hauling petroleum, everything from crude oil to jet fuel. In his impressive career, he traveled over three million miles!
Educated at a country school until the eighth grade, Ollie demonstrated remarkable determination by walking 2.5 miles to school every day and even crafting homemade skis to navigate the winter months. His industrious nature persisted throughout his life, including his three years of service in the U.S. Army, where he spent 14 months overseas during the Korean War. During his time with the army, he also participated in a notable demonstration at West Point, NY, and had the honor of driving a staff car for an army colonel.
Ollie was a man of many interests and deep passions. He cherished the moments he spent with his children at 4H shows and the state fair, where they showcased their horses. His adventurous spirit shone during a memorable 1959 deer hunting trip to the Badlands where he skillfully harvested enough deer for all five men in his company with his M1 Garand rifle, the very weapon he utilized during his military service.
A gentle soul, Ollie was known for his profound love for family and his beloved farm. He took pride in driving the Bundle team during thrashing times, particularly relishing the delicious homemade meals served three times a day. He also enjoyed going out dancing with his long-time girlfriend Betty before her passing, a testament to his vibrant spirit.
He made friends easily, Eddie Wilson, his very good friend whom he met as fellow resident in independent living at Grand Arbor. They had many conversations trading stories of their military services and talking about current events and playing pool together. Many of the residents were his friends. They've said how much they will miss Ollie at breakfast, as they guarded his chair with the pillow.
Ollie is survived by his loving children, Tamera Lee (Christopher) of Parkers Prairie, Minnesota, Paul Becker of Henning, Minnesota and Joyce Jensen (Nathan) of Appleton, Wisconsin; six grandchildren, Nicole DeRouen (Albert), Reggie Bunnell, Allison Klock (Eric), Lindsay Bundermann (Nick), and Carter Jensen and Reed Jensen; 3 step-grandsons, Rudy (Heather) Castro, Patrick and James; brother, Philbert (Joann) Becker of St Paul; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; extra special niece, Susan Lohse and many more nieces and nephews.,
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Mary Becker; his son, Marty John Becker; his granddaughter Jordan Taylor Lee; his sisters, Lucille (Ole) Knutson, Mary Ann (Edward) Koep and Janet (Vernon) Stramer; and his brothers, Casper (Viola) Becker and Leroy Becker.
A visitation in honor of Ollie will be held on March 6, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM, followed by a memorial service at 1:30 PM. Both events will take place at the Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory located at 659 Voyager Drive NW in Alexandria, Minnesota.
Ollie Becker will be remembered as a loving father, devoted brother, and loyal friend, whose stories and warmth touched the lives of many. His legacy will continue to shine through the hearts of all who knew him.
