Melanee Kay "One Cool Chick" McKale-Omang

January 11, 1970 — November 18, 2022

Starbuck

Melanee Kay (Yager) McKale-Omang was born on January 11, 1970, in Longview, Washington to Melvin Yager and Joan (Sjogren) Oberst.  She attended school in Longview, Washington.  Melanee was blessed with two children, Samantha and Caleb.

Melanee lived in a few different states including; Hawaii, North Carolina, North Dakota before settling in Alexandria, Minnesota in 2011.  She later moved to Barrett and most recently in Starbuck.  Melanee found herself a career driving semi-truck and loved the open road.  She worked for Hensley trucking in Osakis for a time and Riverview in Morris.  In September of 2021, Melanee purchased her truck “My Sugar Daddy” to become an owner/operator on the open road.

On October 1, 2022, Melanee was married to Nicholas Omang in Sauk Centre.  The couple made their home in Starbuck and were busy and excited in the remodeling of their home.  She was a member of Church in the Pines and was a strong faithful Christian woman who loved sharing the Word of God.  Melanee was always sharing her faith and recruiting for God’s Army.  She had a love and passion for animals, especially for horses, dogs and cats.  Melanee rescued many animals and delivered them across the country to their forever homes.  She enjoyed taking horse riding adventures and seeing where the horses would lead them.

Melanee had many nicknames; “One Cool Chick”, “Sissy”, “MiMi”, and “MeMaw”, just to name a few.  She was a wonderful, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.  Melanee also had many one liners with “Let’s Do This” or “Unreal” being the most used.  With her lip gloss always nearby and always used, Melanee had a personality and spirit that inspired and encouraged you.  She was loved by many and will be deeply missed to all those who knew her.  God bless the memory of Melanee, and she would want to share and spread the scripture of Colossians 3:12-17.

Melanee died on Friday, November 18, 2022, in a tragic vehicle accident near Glenwood at the age of 52.  She is survived by her husband, Nicholas Omang; daughter, Samantha (Brandon Ikebe) Oberst of Vancouver, WA; son, Caleb (Kimberly) Oberst of Houston, TX; bonus children, Noah and JoJo; grandchildren, Aidan and Delilah Oberst; mother, Joan Oberst of Vancouver, WA; brothers, Rusty (Sandra) Yager of Battle Ground, WA, Mark (Shannon) Yager of Woodland, WA, and Matt Yager of Vancouver, WA; many nieces and nephews; and special family through Christ. Melanee is preceded in death by her father, Melvin Yager.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 2, 2022, at the Church in the Pines in Alexandria.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
