Mark A. Anderson passed away on Oct. 15th2023 unexpectedly at Sanford Hospital in Fargo N.D.at the age of 70.
Mark was born June 9, 1953 in Sioux City, Iowa. Mark grew up in Vermillion SD where he graduated from high school, after graduation he moved to Chicago where he worked with commodities for about 9 years. Then he moved to Norfolk NE where he worked in the families restaurant (The Cattle Shed) for several years. Then Mark moved to CA where he worked at a raceway for a year before going to work for Skipper’s Sea Food & Chowder House working up to the manager position. Mark moved back to the Mpls. MN area to help open two Skipper’s restaurants where he worked until leaving to do some temporary jobs before going to work for Anagram, a company that made many different kinds of balloons. Mark worked there until he moved to Alexandria to marry Delaine Schmidt, his soul mate, on Sept. 16th, 2000.
After moving to Alexandria Mark worked at Elden’s Fine Foods Store, from there he went to work for Sun Opta, a company that manufactured soy milk. A few years later he opened Mark’s Photo & Gift Shop, after a few years he close the Shop and went on the road sharpening Salon Shears for Diamond Rose Shears. Mark traveled from Salon to Salon to sharpen shears for stylists in the area. In a few years he took a job with Executive Express driving a bus to the airport in Mpls., for about 6 years before retiring.
Mark & Delaine continued to live in the Alexandria area enjoying retirement. Mark was a baker and loved to bake bread that he share with friends and relatives, he made many different kinds of bread which everyone enjoyed. Mark loved his cats his first cat Midnight was a special cat to Mark Butterscotch & Puddin were the next pair and finally Charlee who is a fast moving cat who also loved to give kisses which Mark enjoyed. Mark had a very deep Faith and would share with anyone who needed to know about the Lord’s Love for them.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents Merlin & Polly Anderson, brother Chris Anderson.
Mark is survived by his wife Delaine, Sister Penny Hall (Greg), Prior Lake MN, nephews Grant Hall Prior Lake MN, Mark Hall (Katie) Edina MN, niece Tina Herz (Mark) Kansas City MO nephew Dustin Anderson Tulsa OK and several great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4-6 pm Friday Oct. 20 at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Visitation will continue from 10-11 am, followed by a memorial service at 11 am Saturday Oct. 21 at New Testament Church in Alexandria. Burial will be at a later date at Knollwood Memorial Gardens in Fergus Falls MN.
