Marion Stone

Marion Ruth Behrens was born on August 18, 1917, in Brewster, Minnesota the daughter of Gerd and Grace (Heiderbrink) Behrens. As a young child she moved to Bushnall, South Dakota. Her family then moved to Hendricks, MN where she attended school through the fourth grade. She completed her schooling at Rushmore, MN and began work doing childcare and housekeeping. Marion held several jobs throughout her life. She worked in hotels and laundries. She has worked for many years as a carpenter. Marion worked for seven years serving senior meals in LaGrange, MO and then moved to Alexandria. She worked for sixteen years caring for the mentally handicapped at Bullick?s in Alexandria. Marion has served as a volunteer at the Alexandria Senior Center for over twenty years. Marion was united in marriage to Floyd Stone on July 3, 1959, in Moorhead, MN. Floyd died in 1982. Marion died on Monday, April 6, 2009, at the age of 91years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; son, Gale Swan, her parents and a brother, Orval. Marion is survived by her brother, Vernon (Virginia) Behrens of Kent, WA; two grandchildren: Michelle Stensgard of Fargo, Michael (Janeen) Swan of Fargo; four great grandchildren: Christopher Stensgard, Tyler Stensgard, Jake Swan and Derek Swan; daughter-in-law, Myrna Swan of Vergas, MN; sister-in-law, Jean Behrens of Osakis, MN; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Mound Grove Cemetery in Evansville. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home. www.andersonfuneral.net
