Lawrence Richard “Bud” Tvrdik, 95, died Tuesday, February 22nd, 2022.

Bud was born June 1st, 1926 in Lake Mary Township. The son of Joseph and Antonia (Dynda) Tvrdik.

He attended country school till the 8th grade. He then started farming with his father. Bud joined the Army in 1945 and was honorably discharged in December of 1946.  When he returned home from the Army he began farming on the Tvrdik Family Farm.

On July 12th, 1958 Bud was united in marriage to Gwen Grosz at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria.  Bud & Gwen made their home on the Tvrdik Family Farm in Lake Mary Township.  They were blessed with four children. Susanne, Tammy, Jeffrey and Steven.

In 1999 Bud and Gwen moved off the home farm to a home on Chickadee Lane on the west side of Lake Mary. Bud remained in the home on Chickadee Lane until February of 2021 when he moved to Alexandria Assisted Living. Bud enjoyed fishing and hunting along with spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed his time with the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bud was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Gwen, his parents, one infant granddaughter Amy Lynn Smedstad, his brothers Daniel, Eugene and Jerry and his sisters Adeline Kalina and Joan Ganske.

Bud is survived by his children, Susanne (Brad) Bruss of Olathe, KS, Tammy (Scott) Smedstad of Lowry, Jeffrey (Christy) Tvrdik of Alexandria and Steven Tvrdik of Alexandria. Seven grandchildren, Brent (Julie) Bruss of Olathe, KS, Stephanie (Donnie) Bowers of Olathe, KS, Sara (John) Robbins of Starbuck, Eric (Shelly) Smedstad of Lowry, Kathleen (Mark) Blom of Glenwood, Lisa (Brett) Shores of Evansville, and Alison Tvrdik (Lincoln Anderson) of Fulda, MN. 12 great grandchildren, Avery and Brooklyn Bowers, Halle and Hannah Bruss, Nicole Skindelien, Amy Rose Smedstad, Collin and Wyatt Robbins, Madysin Saathoff, and Brynlee, Beckett and Everlee Shores.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 1st, 2022 at Anderson Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Erickson officiating and Linda Muchow providing music. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 28th from 4-7 PM at Anderson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday.   Interment to follow at the Bohemian Independent Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers include all of Bud’s great grandchildren.  Service will be live streamed for those unable to attend.
