Lanny Dale Krohnfeldt, age 58, of Alexandria, passed away September 23, 2023. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Alexandria. A visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery.
He was born December 6, 1964, to Clifford and Yvonne Krohnfeldt.
Lanny was diagnosed with terminal cancer in June of 2023. He decided to forego treatment, choosing quality of life over quantity. Part of that quality of life was him coming “down home” to the farm. There he was surrounded by the beauty and peace of the farm, and enjoyed the company of family and friends, sharing memories and laughter with those around him.
He married Mary Mart on June 19, 1992, with whom he had three daughters (the “ABC girls”). He is survived by daughters, Alicia (Travis Sowder) Krohnfeldt of Alexandria, Brooklyn (Bryce) Klang of Glenwood, and Crystal Krohnfeldt of Alexandria.
His daughters’ fondest memories of their father include the many fishing trips they took when they were younger.
Lanny spent most of his working years as a roofer for Buttweiler’s Do-All, until an unfortunate accident on the job left him unable to work. Despite such a physical setback, it didn’t change who he was as a person. Those close to him knew him as a kind and thoughtful soul, always ready to give you a hug and make you laugh with his sense of humor. He enjoyed listening to classic country music. And if you ever visited the Elks, you might have even heard him singing karaoke, something that he first tried at the encouragement of his friends there. He also loved deer hunting and was able to do it again last season for the first time in years.
He was predeceased by his parents, Clifford and Yvonne; and his brother-in-law, Steven (Reno) Ekdahl.
He is survived by his six siblings brother, Greg (Lori) Krohnfeldt of Circle Pines; sisters, Jackie Ekdahl of Alexandria, Norma (Doug) Kloehn of Garfield, Nora (Dale) Wilke of Miltona, Connie Krohnfeldt of Leaf Valley; and brother, Jonathan Krohnfeldt of Saint Paul. He is also survived by his aunt, Barb; and uncle, Harold Guenther; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Doug Kloehn, Dale Wilke, Connie Krohnfeldt, Jonathan Krohnfeldt, Bruce Guenther, and Les Tschida. Honorary pallbearers are his friends at the Elks.
