Kimberly Jeanne Rose was born on November 18, 1957, in Minneapolis, Minnesota the daughter of William and Jeanne (Riedel) Rose. She grew up in Crystal and graduated from Totino-Grace High School. While in high school she was on the cross-country team which she loved and always reminded people that she was a CC RUNNER. She attended St. Ben’s and UMD, graduating with her bachelor's degree in social work.
Kim was married to William Hilback and to this union three children were born: Michaela, Daniel and Savannah. She loved being a mom and was fond of reading to the kids, going to playgrounds and eating out with the kids - especially desserts. Kim lived in Grand Rapids for 30 years before moving to the Alexandria area.
Throughout her life she enjoyed teaching whether it was in Sunday school, on Ski Patrol or as a Life-Guard at the YMCA. She worked as a substitute teacher and a para in the schools as well as a waitress throughout her adult life.
She will be remembered as a very compassionate, caring person who always wanted the best for everyone. Kim was not a materialistic person - though she did enjoy collecting- she would share whatever she could with different organizations whether it was working the Pro-Life Booth at the Itasca and Douglas County Fairs or helping local charities – she was always there.
Kimberly died prayerfully, peacefully with Savannah at her side on Sunday, December 21, 2025, the other kids just didn’t make it in time! During her many years of failing mental and physical health, Kim kept doing whatever she could to make our lives fuller and better, she loved us and we loved her. As grandma Jeanne always said, “She got the whole book thrown at her.”
She is survived by her three children: Michaela (Steve) Niblett, Daniel (Susie) Hilback, Savannah (Josiah) Aultman; grandchildren: Kaija, Easton, Grayer, Lucas, Judah, Avalyn, Eleanora Niblett, Ezekiel, Cecelia, Augustine Hilback and Jeconiah, Anna, Henrik Aultman; brothers: Rustin (Ela), Kevin (Mary) & Michael (Janice) Rose; Sisters: Sr. Lisa Rose, Amy (Jim) Techam, many nieces and nephews and godchildren and countless friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents: William & Jeanne and will be greeted in heaven by 16 grandchildren who never made it to this world.
