Kenneth Lee Jensen was born on December 2, 1941, to William and Lydia (Schoewe) Jensen in Holmes City, MN. Ken attended school through the 9th grade until he began helping his family full time on the farm.
Ken met his wife, Janet Myrin, and they were married on August 6, 1966, at Fahlun Lutheran Church in Nelson, MN, blessing him with 3 step-children, Michael, Pamela, and Patricia. To this union, Ken and Janet had another son, Bruce. The family moved to Benson, MN where they lived for 18 years. While living in Benson, Ken worked at the alfalfa plant, obtained his GED in 1977, and was able to attend school in Granite Falls, MN, receiving his Boilers License.
Ken and Jan moved back to the Alexandria in 1990 where Ken worked as a custodian at Holiday Inn and then at Arrowwood until retirement. He also worked at Calvary Lutheran Church as a custodian and volunteered there as well.
Not only did Ken help the children grow with Janet, but he helped the garden grow as well. He had 6 different ways to till the garden and turned their lake place into a mini farm with all the equipment and tractors. He collected miniature John Deere tractors, traveled to Holmes City every Saturday to shop at the farmer’s market, loved to watch baseball, enjoyed coffee at Traveler’s Inn with his friend, Grant, and enjoyed chatting with friends in the hallway between Bethany and Bethel Manor. Ken was a quiet, zero “frill” kind of man, and was a loyal husband who loved Janet dearly.
Kenneth passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at Bethany on the Lake at the age of 80. He is survived by his children, Pamela Fennell, Michael (Ann) Etcheverry, Patricia (Michael) Holden, and Bruce (Kathy) Jensen; grandchildren, Zachary (Zabreana) Fennell, Hayley Fennell, Jeremiah (Tiffany) Etcheverry, Andrew (Malarie) Etcheverry, Lance Holden, Austin (Courtney) Holden, Ben Jensen, and Katie Jensen; 7 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Audrey Jensen; and brother-in-law, Jim Thompson.
