Keith D. Berghuis

November 3, 1947 — December 21, 2024

Farwell

Keith Donald Berghuis, was born on November 3, 1947, in Willmar, MN, the son of Donald and Arvilla (Krepps) Berghuis. Keith graduated from high school in Brownton, MN, in 1965, before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1966. Keith married Arlys Block on April 13, 1968, in Hutchinson, MN, and together they raised two daughters, Sheila and Ann, who became the light of his life. Keith proudly served his country in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1969.

For 34 1/2 years, Keith thrived as a supervisor at 3M, dedicating himself to hard work and teamwork until he retired in 2004. Following his retirement, he moved to Alexandria, where he found new love, at a fish fry, with Mary Wussow. The two were united in marriage on January 15, 2012, enjoying countless adventures together, from fishing, bowling, and playing pickleball to joyful rides on their side by side and again fishing.

Keith's faith was central to his life. Ordained as a minister, he was heavily involved with the Christian Motorcycle Association and spread the word of God at events like Sturgis and during a mission trip to Honduras. He cherished the moments he spent baptizing and marrying many faithful souls, leaving a lasting impact on those he touched.

An avid sports fan, Keith could often be found in his man cave, cheering passionately for the Vikings. His love for the outdoors shone through his favorite pastimes, whether it was cutting down trees, woodworking, feeding wild animals, or joyfully driving his Kubota tractor around the yard. Above all, he was known for his warm heart, strong faith, and his love for hugs.

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Keith Donald Berghuis, age 77, on December 21, 2024. Keith is survived by his devoted spouse, Mary Berghuis; his beloved daughter, Sheila Sepulvado and her fiancé, Kevin Brunberg; his mother, Arvilla Berghuis; step children, Daryn Wussow, and Jessica Riehl (Matt Wilder); grandchildren, Kathryn (Travis) Mansker, Alyssa (James) Waters, Derek Nussbaum, Samantha Sepulvado, Jayden Riehl, and Hunter Riehl; great grandchildren, Flynn Waters, Evelyn Waters, Kyla Mansker, Jonathan Mansker, and Jackson Mansker; son-in-law, Jon Nussbaum; brothers, Dwight (Linda) Berghuis and Harry (Kathy) Berghuis; sisters, Donita (Jim) Vogt and Judy (Gary) Lee; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Keith was preceded in death by his father, Donald Berghuis and his daughter Ann Nussbaum.
