Katherine “Pam” Bailey was born on December 22, 1936, in Tyler, MN. She grew up in Marshall, MN. Pam was the oldest of two children of Dr. Raymond and Palma (Polly) Anderson. Pam graduated from Marshall High School in 1954. Following high school she earned both a Bachelor’s and later a Masters Degree from the University of Minnesota in Nursing and Nursing Administration. Pam’s professional career as a nurse led to leadership roles and ultimately the Associate Chief of Nursing Service at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis.
On August 30, 1958, Pam married her high school sweetheart Jack Bailey in Franklin, MN. The couple moved to the Twin Cities and raised their three sons Scott, Curt, and David (who had special needs) in Bloomington. In retirement Jack and Pam moved permanently to their lake home in Alexandria, MN.
Pam died on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the St. Cloud, MN hospital. She is survived by her sons: Scott (Mary Kay), Curt (significant other Sue); six grandsons: Ryan (Brittany), Michael (Kacey), John (Julie), Daniel (Mikayla), Kevin (Becca), Kyle (Emily); ten great grandchildren. Pam was preceded in death by her parents, brother Denny, husband Jack and son David.
There will be a private family service in Alexandria and a burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials should be directed to David’s former group home, Synstelien Community Services, 128 E Meadowlark Ln, Fergus Falls, MN 56537.
