Judy Ann Meyer

Judith “Judy” Ann Meyer, 83, of Livingston, Montana, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026, following an ongoing fight with kidney disease. She was surrounded by love with her oldest granddaughter, Ashley, by her side.

Judy was born on September 2, 1942 in Hayward, Wisconsin to Carlyle P. and Anita Watrud. They later moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where Judy attended Washburn High School going on to attend the University of Minnesota graduating with a B.S. in Home Economic Education.

In 1964, Judy moved to Alexandria, Minnesota where she managed her father’s recently opened Ben Franklin store. Judy met and fell in love with one of the store’s delivery drivers, James “Jim” August Meyer. Jim and Judy were married in April 1967 and welcomed their only child, Jennifer, shortly after in 1968.

Over the next 50+ years, Judy became an active and beloved part of the Alexandria community where she was involved in many organizations and causes. Judy was the Worthy Matron in Eastern Star, president of the Alexandria Figure Skating Club, president of the Alexandria Opportunity Center, commissioner for the Runestone Community Center, and a member of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, the Downtowners Organization, the Fireman’s Auxiliary, and the Alexandria Gold Club.

In 2018, after 54 years of business, Judy closed the doors of the Ben Franklin store. Shortly after, Judy and Jim moved to Montana to enjoy the beauty and slower pace of life. Judy treasured her six years in Montana spending her remaining time with family and loved ones.

Judy is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Jim Meyer; their daughter, Jennifer (Joel) Grueneich; and her grandchildren, Ashley (Katie) Weisel; Jody (Aaron) Weisel; Meghan Miller; Shawn (Amber) Miller; and Jordan (Kiah) Grueneich. Judy also leaves behind her very special great-grandson, Charlie Dean, who brought her tremendous joy.

Judy is also survived by her siblings, Karla (David) Buckner of Burnsville, Minnesota; Joel (Julie) Watrud of Waskish, Minnesota; and Kathy (Dennis) Anderson of Apple Valley, Minnesota.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Anita Watrud; Jim’s parents, Meta and Otto Frietag; and, most recently, her brother and his wife, John and Nancy Watrud.

Judy built a life rich in family, friendship, and service. Judy will be remembered for her strength, leadership, generosity, and commitment to the people and the communities she loved. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through the generations of her family and the many people whose lives she touched.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Anderson Funeral Home from 3p.m. until 5p.m.
