Judy Erick

Judy Ann (Rector) Erick was born on August 12, 1943, in Grass Valley, California to Thomas and Matilda (Van Beek) Rector.  She graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Judy was united in marriage to Paul Erick on October 22, 1961, in Sioux Falls.  The next year they were blessed with a son, Jeffrey.  A few years later the family moved to St. Louis Park, MN.  When they bought a house in Golden Valley, MN she went to work part-time at Bertelson Bros. to help support the family.  In 2000, the couple moved to Alexandria where they enjoyed their cabin on Mill Lake.  After Paul’s passing on September 30, 2016, Judy became very active in the New Horizon’s organization.  She served on the board and enjoyed all the actives they did together.

Judy was very dedicated to her family.  She helped care for her parents, husband’s parents, uncle Sammy, and other family members when they needed it.  Judy was the family historian and enjoyed collecting family heirlooms.  She enjoyed going antique shopping where she liked collecting dolls and china.

Judy died on Monday, April 6, 2020, at her home at the age of 76 under the care of Hospice of Douglas County.  She is survived by her son, Jeff; grandchildren, Calder, Corina, and Dustin; great-grandchildren, Stella, Aria, and Gavin; brother, Jim (his wife, Karen) Richter; sister, Jane Rector; and many nieces and nephews.  Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Matilda; and husband, Paul.

A private service was held on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.  Inurnment was at Evergreen Cemetery in Alexandria.

Memorials are preferred to Hospice of Douglas County.
